SSUPD Meshroom S V2 SATA Port Compatibility Guide for ATX/M-ATX Motherboards

Modified on Sat, Jun 13 at 4:20 PM

The Meshroom S V2 is a compact chassis with limited internal space. When paired with certain ATX/M-ATX motherboards featuring horizontally outward SATA ports on the right side, the 244mm board width occupies nearly all vertical space inside the case. The remaining clearance is insufficient, causing the front panel structure to interfere with SATA cable connectors and preventing normal cable installation.

Structural Explanation

After installing standard ATX (305×244mm) or M-ATX (244×244mm) motherboards, the internal space of the chassis remains tight. Horizontally routed SATA ports require extra lateral clearance for connectors and cables, which the original case design cannot provide, resulting in physical obstruction. Even with 90° angled SATA cables, the connectors and wires will press against or rub against the front panel, risking cable damage. This is an inherent structural compatibility issue and cannot be resolved simply by changing cables.

Solutions

  1. Pre-purchase, select motherboards with vertically arranged SATA ports; ITX motherboards are not affected.

  2. Pre-purchase, Use M.2 SSDs instead of HDDs or SATA SSDs to avoid concerns over SATA port orientation.

  3. Purchase the dedicated Meshroom Expansion Bracket and use 90° angled SATA cables (SSUPD doesn't supply this, free to choose from third-party). This adds extra internal clearance and supports all storage configurations.

Required components for the Meshroom Expansion Bracket setup:
Single 90° Angled SATA Cable (SSUPD doesn't supply this, free to choose from third-party)

Application Guidelines for Different Scenarios

  1. If you are still selecting components: Choose a motherboard with vertically oriented SATA ports.

  2. If you already own the Meshroom S V2 and motherboard: Adopt an M.2 SSD-only configuration.

  3. If you already have the Meshroom S V2 and motherboard and need to use HDD or SATA SSD, install the Meshroom Expansion Bracket together with angled SATA cables.
