Meshroom S / D Build Guide for mATX Motherboard + 4 × 3.5" HDD + SFX PSU

Modified on Mon, Nov 3 at 6:52 PM

If your priority is to build a compact system with:

  • 4 × 3.5" mechanical drives (HDDs)
  • Micro-ATX motherboard (mATX)
  • SFX power supply

Both Meshroom D and Meshroom S V2 are viable options. However, Meshroom D is highly recommended due to its more accommodating internal layout.

Meshroom D with mATX + 4 × HDD

Motherboard Support
  • Meshroom D natively supports only ITX motherboards.
  • To install an mATX motherboard, the Expansion Bracket is required.
  • This layout reduces GPU clearance — please refer to this guide link

HDD Mounting Locations
  • The SFX PSU mounting area can accommodate up to 3 × 3.5" HDDs, but careful SATA and power cable management is essential.
  • AIO liquid coolers cannot be used in this configuration — you must opt for an air cooler.

4th HDD on the Top
  • A 4th HDD can be mounted at the top of the case.
  • However, this location may conflict with CPU air cooler space

Please refer to standard installation illustrations for maximum cooler height and GPU width when using Expansion Bracket.

Motherboard & GPU Requirements

  • Meshroom S V2 supports mATX motherboard installation with the 440 mm PCIe riser cable (please select the Meshroom S V2 No Riser Cable Case).
  • This configuration only supports SFF GPUs, GPU limitation.

HDD Mounting Positions

  • Position 1: Behind motherboard / under GPU
    • Supports 2 × 3.5" HDDs.
    • Watch for interference with power supply or GPU power connectors.

HDD Mounting Positions

  • Position 2: In front of motherboard tray
    • Can fit 2 more HDDs, but:
      • May block CPU cooler space;
      • Will interfere with RAM slots, depending on cooler layout.
